Laye Beusse’s bio
I was born in Senegal in 1985. I started listening to music at the age of 8. I remember every time we got a lift to school we always listened to Mandingo music from Mali, songs written by artists like Salif Keita or Mory Kanté. In 2004 I felt in love with football and in 2008 I started to play for the Jarraf team in Dakar. In 2011 I started to learn to play guitar and my passion and love were slowly moving away from football towards music. For 2 years I studied music at Ecole des Beaux Arts in Dakar and finally I quit football completely and dedicated all my efforts to my music.
In 2015 I participated at a competition called Relève Bi organised by a famous Senegalese singer Youssou Ndour, who wanted to form a new band. Out of the 2800 participants a new band called Snyper Band was formed and I made it as a lead guitarist. We played in some of the most famous clubs in Dakar such as Just4You, Limpala and Munste.
In 2016 I moved to Morocco, where I played as a soloist in many clubs, venues and festivals such as Moisaique Festival and the Festival of Popular Art in Marrakech.
In 2022 I came back to Senegal, this time to Casamance – a very beautiful and lively area in the south of Senegal that is very popular among tourists, which gave me the opportunity to play my music in various local venues.
In 2023 I have moved to the Czech Republic, where I am currently located.
February the 2nd 2024 is the birthday of my first studio album Souvenir.
